Origins of the name Roganti, Rogante, and Rogatus
(Italian)
Entrambi marchigiani, Roganti molto più raro del primo parrebbe avere anche un ceppo lombardo, Rogante,
che è comunque molto raro, è specifico del Piceno, si può presumere una derivazione dal nome bizantino Rogatus,
ma è pure possibile che tale cognomi derivi dallo stato di notaio Rogante del capostipite, uso evidenziato in questo
scritto del 1600: "... de fori delle case de Roganti...", traccia di questa cognomizzazione si trova ad esempio in
Valtellina nel XVIII° secolo a Piuro (SO) nel 1732 è Console un certo Giovan Pietro Roganti.

Both (marchigiani), Roganti the much rarest one of the first one (parrebbe) to have also a Lombardic stock,
Rogante, that it is however much rare one, are specific of the Piceno, can be presumed a derivation from the
name bizantino Rogatus, but it is also possible that such last names drifts from the state of Rogante notary
public of the prototype, use evidenced in this written of 1600: "... de holes of the houses de Roganti... ",
trace of this (cognomizzazione) as an example finds in Valtellina in the 18th century is

Bishop donatist of Ténès, Rogatus Maurus
Chretiens Celebres De Tenes
First known bishop of Ténès the 2e half of IVe century was dominated by the strong presence of the bishop
donatist of Ténès, Rogatus Maurus. He separated from the party of Donat after the edict of Julien the Apostate (361 - 363 AD)
who granted to Donatistes, on their request, the restitution of their Churches. Its dissension with Donatistes was base on the
recourse to the violence of Circoncellions, uses sometimes by Bishops donatists has the opposition to the Catholics. Without
leaving the thought donatist, the Rogatus bishop founded a dissenting Church which had has to suffer from many times of the
attacks of the armed bands with Firmus, whose family dominated Kabylie Western.

Rogatistes
In the diocese of Cartenna (Ténès) and its surroundings the situation were more complex. A bishop donatist, Rogatus Maurus
(Maurus, because it was probably country) had condemns the violence of Donatistes and became the founder of under
schism, Rogatisme. Its followers were regarded as nonviolent ones.

Donatists Firmiani, because they had been subjected to much cruelty at their hands under the authority of Firmus.

Saint Augustine - He was the leader who founded several monasteries throughout northern Africa. Numerous followers
lived and followed the ideals of the Augustinian monastic community.
484 AD:
Some 34 years after Augustine's death, a decree issued by King Huneric (Vandals) said that every monastery was to be
abolished. All the monks and nuns were handed over to the Moors. There was seven brothers from the monastery were
arrested and thrown into a dungeon in Gafsa, Tunisia. The following people arrested were the Deacon Boniface, the
Subdeacons Servus and Rusticus, their Abbot Liberatus and the monks Rogatus, Septimus and Maximus. They were taken
by force to the city of Carthage. While there, they were promised very materialistic gifts only if they would forsake Christ and
their Augustinian way of life. They firmly stated that they remain faithful to Jesus, as a result, they were thrown into prison.
Beforehand, there were Christians from within the cirty of Carthage who tried to bribe the jailers. They were allowed to offer
the prisioners material and spiritual support. Not long after, the King had heard of this and he gave the order to have all seven
prisioners burn to death. One final moment before the execution, the King tried to persuade the youngest monk, Maximus, that
he can avoid death by renouncing Christ. But Maximus absolutely refused to accept his offer. He proclaimed his allegiance to
God and also to his brothers in Augustine. All seven of the monks were forced to march a long distance to the boat pier and placed
on some kind of old boat and tied. The soldiers surrounded them with firewood but when they tried to set the fire, it wasn't possible
to make it burn. King Huneric became angry about this and ordered the soldiers to beat all seven monks to death. Until their last
moments of life, all seven monks would never forsake Christ and remained ever faithful. Their bodies were thrown into the sea, but
were recovered later by some of the Christian faithful and the bodies were given a proper burial in the monastery of Bigua, next
to the Basilica of Clerenius. The date was July 2, 484 AD
Saint Rogatus (b. mon.dd.yyyy - d.mon.dd.yyyy)One of a group of eighteen martyrs (and now all Saints) with Aresius , Lucius, Candida, Cassian, Modestus,
and Castulus, Boniface, Maximus, Rusticus, Septimus, Servus, Zoticus and Liberatus (abbot of an African
monastery near Capsa, Byzeceke). They were put to death for their Christian Faith in Roman Africa during the persecution
of the Church under the Romans. They were martyred by the Arian ruler of the Vandals, King Huneric, in Carthage.
